Interceptor fighters and anti-aircraft (AA) artillery complement one another. AA artillery is used to protect targets of national importance, air and sea defence locations and troop marshalling, transport and combat. AA missiles are used to support interceptor fighters in preventing use of airspace.
AA protects its designated targets by disrupting or preventing enemy aircraft from operating in the area. The focus of AA is on low-altitude interception and the protection of operative formations and major military targets.
